A Barbados Small Luxury Oceanfront Hotel

by Andrew Watkins

Before you choose a Barbados Luxury Hotel check out the Sandpiper, a small exclusive luxury hotel situated on the west coast, that could be just right for you.

This Barbados luxury hotel called the Sandpiper, which is located on the west coast of Barbados is relatively unknown, but is without doubt one of the nicest small luxury hotels in Barbados.

The Sandpiper is a small hotel with only 45 rooms, and it would be fair to say very elegant, well laid out, and the gardens as well as the hotel are extremely well looked after and immaculate.

The one bedroom suites at The Sandpiper are really what makes the hotel a luxury hotel. They have a large living room, with a pull out bed if you are travelling as a family. A fully equipped kitchen, a large bedroom with of course a king size bed, and two bathrooms, with of course all the trimmings, plus air conditioning. The balcony is huge, and this makes such a difference, and it is big enough to have a dining table which seats four and two chaise longues. Take note there is no television in the rooms, but then who needs TV when you are on holiday!

The real best touch which makes all the difference in a small luxury hotel, is that it is a family run hotel. Family interest shows in all the little touches, not the least of which is the service, which starts with a very warm welcome on arrival at reception, where it is likely one of the management team will show you to your room personally. In fact a short time after a manager shows you to your room, complimentary rum punches will arrive, adding to the feeling of being made thoroughly welcome.

It is quite common to hear that the service at The Sandpiper is the best in the Caribbean to give you an idea of how good it is. The staff seem very quickly to know your likes, and dislikes, your seating preferences, and then they almost and invariably accurately anticipate your needs. This is something of course that a small luxury hotel should be good at, but very few are, and certainly this feature is definitely the best in Barbados.

One of the features that makes The Sandpiper a top Barbados Luxury Hotel is the fact that room service comes free, so you can eat breakfast on your balcony, or dinner for that matter and it doesn’t cost anything. You also get a couple of hours of free tennis coaching with your booking which is a nice touch.

The food by and large is good, with a wide choice at breakfast, and everything cooked, is freshly done, and Harrolds Bar for lunch has everything from tasty snacks to more substantial meals. Dinner in the evening is excellent, and if for a change you want to eat out, there are plenty of good local touristy restaurants nearby. You might care to check out Ragamuffins which does a good curry, Mews stays open late, Daphne’s, and Spagos.

Small criticisms are the fact that the beach is on the small side, so sunbeds get booked early, and the other which is a bit pathetic is that the average age of the guests is on the high side of forty, and The Sandpiper has the slight air of an exclusive club. This isn’t anyone’s fault it is more a measure of just how good this particular small Barbados Luxury Oceanfront Hotel is, because the guests keep returning year after year, and they all seem to know each other!

A Romantic Bed And Breakfast Inn On St Lucia

by Kelly J Wilson

Before booking into a large hotel on St Lucia, check out the best bed and breakfast romantic Inn on St Lucia with some of the qualities of a five star hotel

The Inn on the Bay has only five spacious rooms, but this romantic bed and breakfast inn is really hiding its light under a bushel because it is one of the best, most popular romantic, intimate, and exclusive hotels in St Lucia, if not the entire Caribbean The Inn on the Bay has been described as the perfect hideaway for lovers and honeymooners, overlooking Marigot Bay the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean.

The biggest problem about writing about such a hidden gem as the Inn on the Bay is that you open it up to many other people to make reservations that the Inn on the Bay will be a secret hideaway no longer. Guests frequently comment that they never feel like paying guests, but much more like friends who had been asked to stay, and that is a great compliment to the owners Normand and Louise whose personal touch and personality make this such a delightful place. They cannot do enough for their guests including Normand happily dropping guests down at Marigot Bay, and then picking them up again at a moments notice, saving a gruelling fifteen minute uphill climb. The best thing of all is how personalised all of the service is.

Inn on the Bay is described as the number one bed and breakfast hotel in St Lucia, but it is so much more than that. The words bed and breakfast conjures up Blackpool in England landladies who turf you out after breakfast telling you not to return until bedtime. Nothing in the world could be further from that image. This isn’t a bed and breakfast in the sense of the word, much more a romantic small hotel, both intimate, and exclusive at the same time.

When describing the Inn on the Bay as having five rooms, this omits to mention that the Inn is actually perched, and that is not an overstatement, 300 feet high on the south cliff above Marigot Bay, and this of course means stunning views from nearly everywhere and especially the swimming pool. The whole position is remarkable, being one property from the edge of the point.

The rooms at the Inn on the Bay overlook the pool, are large, with high ceilings, and enormous bathroom, and cooled by the breezes, bearing in mind how high up you are. The full continental breakfast certainly sets you up for the day and the fresh fruit and croissants will remain a happy memory long after you leave.

Of course with breakfast being the meal served at Inn on the Bay, and whilst you can relax all day by the pool sipping rum punches at this romantic hotel, just watching the plethora of yachts in the bay, it is good to see a little of marigot Bay if not the rest of St Lucia. By the way the breakfast room stays open all day and you can help yourself to tea, coffee, hot chocolate, which is a nice homely touch.

The beach at the bay is relaxing, just about big enough but go to the rocky end to swim, and be prepared for the music blaring out from the restaurants.

The location and the owners are the real key to the success of Inn on the Bay. Normand will make the suggestions for your daytime activity, get you there, or at the very least organize it, and then make sure you book the right restaurant at night, and drop you off, and pick you up.

You won’t find a better location on St Lucia, and very probably nothing as romantic, homely, and relaxing as the Inn on the Bay.
