Caravan Holidays In Scotland

by Rakesh Gaikwad

Overshadowed in recent years by cheap, package holidays abroad, caravan holidays in Scotland are once again becoming popular amongst holiday makers – and for good reason. Whether you’re looking for a lively long weekend away with a group of friends, a week long family holiday or a quiet retreat for a romantic couple, a caravan holiday in Scotland is definitely the way go.

Caravans offer the most cost effective way of viewing the wonders of Scotland. Whether towing your own caravan and pitching on one of Scotland’s many caravan parks, or hiring a beautiful static caravan, it’s just like a home from home. With all your own home amenities, your own car parking space, green area around the caravan, you have the most important values – choice and freedom. Whether you want to cook a meal or eat out, go out or early and come back late, it’s completely up to you. Furthermore, if you’re using a touring caravan, you could have a different view of Scotland every morning. How does waking up at the shore of the world famous Loch Ness one morning sound, followed by looking out of your window and seeing the breathtaking views of Ailsa Craig another?

Often referenced as one of the most beautiful countries in the world, Scotland has always been renowned for its stunning, natural beauty. Its breathtaking views of the many Loch’s and Glen’s have been the back drop to years of photographs and it’s famous whisky has been warming chests since 1494.

Scotland’s biggest city, Glasgow is famous for its stunning architecture, historical museums and without a doubt, its welcoming people. The endless shopping facilities and leisure amenities will keep even the most passionate shopper busy.Situated an hours drive from Glasgow is Edinburgh, the Scottish capital. One of the most beautiful cities in the world, Glasgow has a world famous castle and is renowned for its celebrations. The Edinburgh Tattoo in August is made up of several festivals and is visited from all over the world, whilst its Hogmanay celebration on New Years Eve is rivalled only by the celebrations in Time Square, New York.

Head North and you’ll be taken into wilderness of the North-West Highlands, just south of the stunning Argyll. Move over to the North East and you’ll be greeted with beautiful Perthshire (which in the summer plays host to the famous ‘T in the Park’ music festival), the high Grampians and lowland Aberdeenshire. The area is dominated my mountainous terrain and is perfect for those wishing to see the true beauty of the country on a caravan holidays in Scotland.

The South of Scotland is filled with rolling hills, lush, green forests and memorable old market towns. Local towns in Dumfries and Galloway are heavily steeped in history and tradition. Winding streets and pebbled lanes make southern Scotland a definite place to visit.

The Scottish tourist board has invested millions of pounds over recent years into Scottish tourism and in particular, its caravan parks, making now a better time than ever to take a caravan holiday in Scotland.

Affordable Beachfront Belize in Placencia

by Jim Brown

If it has to be Belize, and it has to beachfront, and it has to be affordable, then check out the Maya Beach Hotel at Placencia.

You need an affordable Vacation in Belize. So how does USD110 as an average price sound, and how does beachfront on Placencia, and not only that rated in the top three hotels in the Placencia Peninsula. Such a hotel is the tiny Maya Beach Hotel, which is situated on a beach of lovely soft sand slap bang in the middle of the Placencia Peninsula.

With apparently only five rooms the Maya Beach Hotel is tiny, and without a huge number of stars to its name you would be right to expect more comfort than luxury, because the Maya Beach Hotel is looking for guests who don’t want to spend all the time in their rooms, they want people out relaxing on the beach, going on tours of this part of Belize, meeting local people, or just relaxing in a hammock, cool drink in hand, or fish watching at the end of the hotel’s dock. There is plenty to do, even if it means being busy doing nothing. The rooms all have screened windows, because the risks of being bitten in Belize are high so you will want to use insect repellent anyway. There is air conditioning, private bath, table and chairs, safe drinking water and nice quality bed sheets.

There are the Standard Beachview Rooms, called Jaguar, Toucan, and Hummingbird, with Queen Beds, and all three are roomy.

The Large Coconut Room is the largest room on the second floor, and access to the balcony. Close to the hotel’s famous Bistro is the Hibiscus Room.

If you are looking for somewhat grander accommodation, then the Maya Beach Hotel offers rentals of some of the most spectacular privately owned beachfront houses on the Peninsula, although if it is the affordable vacation you seek, then they may well be out of your price bracket.

The Bistro has a huge and well deserved reputation, closed on Mondays but otherwise open all day and evening. Some of the cooking is totally inspirational, and best of all the prices will fit in with the requirements of an affordable vacation.

It can be difficult to decide what kind of vacation you would have at a hotel like the Maya Beach Hotel, but previous guest’s comments can give you more of an idea. The most prominent comments suggest this is a place to relax. “A real relaxed vacation”, and “Very quiet and friendly”, are two relevant reports. It has been described as “Close to being Paradise”, with “Friendly helpful staff and fantastic food”.

One guest really put the whole thing in a nutshell when they reported “A great and very affordable little hotel, with great food, and so very relaxed and friendly”. It therefore would appear to tick most of the boxes for people who don’t want a hectic night life, and enjoy the smaller more intimate Inn type of hotel, rather than the big glitzy resort, full of hustle and bustle, but so plastic you could be anywhere. Belize is a lovely country and hotels like Maya Beach Hotel enable you to get much closer to the real Belize.
